Legal Redress Committee

The Legal Redress Committee works to address criminal justice and juvenile justice issues. The NAACP DC Branch advocates to increase the awareness of gun violence, police brutality, racial profiling, and other injustices disproportionately affecting our communities. We build community partnerships to address the surge of gun violence within our communities. We take an aggressive approach to abolish and prosecute incidents of police brutality. We take a proactive approach to combating racial bias in law enforcement. We seek to eliminate disparate treatment of blacks in all aspects of law enforcement and criminal justice systems.

Guns Aside Campaign

The NAACP DC Branch has partnered with Reaching Out to Others Together (ROOT, Inc.) to support the “Guns Aside” Campaign, which is an anti-gun violence campaign. ROOT, Inc. is a non-profit activist organization, launching a nationwide campaign to educate and raise awareness about the issue of youth and gun violence. As a component of the Guns Aside campaign, NAACP youth units in Washington, DC will plan a series of anti-gun violence workshops on college campuses throughout DC, educating the public on the surge of gun violence within our communities.

Community in Action Neighborhood Defense and Opportunity Bill
