On February 12, 2009 the NAACP celebrated its 100th year anniversary as the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization leading the fight for social justice. To commemorate this milestone and kick-off the DC Branch NAACP's 100th year centennial celebration series, The Washington, DC NAACP Branch hosted an NAACP Centennial Reception and Image Awards Viewing Party Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the Motion Picture Association of America.
With more than 150 individuals in attendance, the Centennial Reception and Viewing Party celebrated the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in the arts, motion picture, television, recording, and literature, as well as those individuals or groups who promote social justice through their creative endeavors.
Thanks to all the supporters of the reception and a special thanks to the Motion Picture Association of America.
